Race medicine best practices
The road race industry has experienced an explosion in growth in recent years.
Approximately 650 marathons, 1200 half marathons, and 2500 10K races take place annually in the U.S. alone – statistics that do not even include the number of 5Ks, triathlons, all terrain races, and charity walks. Globally the numbers continue to increase at a staggering rate.
This growth, along with escalating concerns surrounding mass shootings and terrorist attacks at large-scale events, bring with it a heightened awareness and need for runner safety and emergency preparedness.
Sports Medicine Consultants' founder and executive director, Chris Troyanos, is committed to continuously improving race medicine, sharing best practices, and collaborating with global medical and research professionals who share his mission, through the International Institute of Race Medicine.
